Tragic Loss: Madonna’s Brother Christopher Ciccone Dies at 63

Christopher Ciccone, Madonna’s brother, died at the age of 63 after a battle with cancer, his agent revealed. He died quietly in Michigan, with his husband, Ray Thacker, by his side. This announcement comes soon after the death of their stepmother, Joan Clare Ciccone, and follows the death of their brother, Anthony, in February 2023.

Christopher was an artist, interior decorator, and served as art director on Madonna’s 1990 Blond Ambition World Tour. He directed music videos for artists like Dolly Parton and Tony Bennett in the ’90s. The siblings had a strained relationship, which Christopher detailed in his 2008 tell-all book, Life With My Sister Madonna. He criticized Madonna for outting him in a 1991 interview and spoke about a pivotal moment in their relationship during the filming of her documentary Truth or Dare.

Despite their previous disagreements, Christopher expressed delight in his sister’s accomplishments in a 2012 interview, noting that they remained in communication but had not seen each other in a long time. Christopher and Ray Thacker married in 2016.

Their stepmother Joan passed away on September 24, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. She had been married to their father, Silvio, for 58 years. Their mother, also named Madonna, died in 1963, and Anthony Ciccone died at 66 from respiratory failure and throat cancer.
