Celebrities are accustomed to being in the spotlight and Angelina Jolie is constantly being highlighted. From her divorce from Brad Pitt to the issues associated with her brother, the news has a field day any time she hits the headlines.
It wasn’t all that long ago, however, that Angelina Jolie really gave the world something to ponder. She was with her brother, James Haven, and she kissed him on the lips in public.
This came as a shock to many people but it was disclosed that they had been very close since they were children. They had to deal with their father, who was not always the nicest person and his temper often caused them problems.
Standing up to their father and protecting each other, along with her mother, caused them to form a very strong bond. They continue to have that strong bond as adults.
The kiss occurred when Angelina Jolie won the Oscar for being in Girl Interrupted. After kissing her brother she gave the speech, saying: “I am just so in love with my brother! He just held me and said he loved me … Jamie, you’re just … I have nothing without you.”
The bond between brother and sister continued to stay strong when their mother was sick and eventually passed away from ovarian cancer in 2007. They honored her by wearing jewelry that belonged to their mother.
Things started to go downhill in their relationship when she began paying him to be a full-time nanny for their children. When Jolie and Pitt were in court for their divorce, Haven was the children’s caretaker and would babysit for them when they were overwhelmed or needed a night off.
He kept the kids busy and was often seen with them taking a walk at a local park. After a year of caring for the children, he was let go from his role as nanny and people suggested that the brother and sister had drifted apart.
After being let go, he hasn’t seen his sister and that was in 2017. She allegedly had stopped talking to him suddenly and both siblings are not talking about the reason why they don’t seem as close anymore.
In 2009, Haven returned to his religious background, joining the Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California. It was suggested that he was training to become a youth minister.
After returning to the church, he apparently mended the relationship with his dad and began questioning his own abilities in light of what his sister had accomplished.
Despite all of it, Haven did not hold any grudges against his family members. He said that despite the distance, he still wanted to be there for his sister.
Let’s hope they can mend those bridges together.
