His family said that McFarr died on Monday at his home in Florida. He was Chris Pratt’s stunt double in Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World.
Donna, the daredevil’s mother, told TMZ the sad news, but the official cause of his death has not been released yet.
She said it was “shocking and unexpected” that he had died and that her son was “active and healthy.”
“Devastated to hear about the death of my friend and former stunt double Tony McFarr,” Pratt wrote in a moving Instagram post.
“We worked on a few movies together. We played golf, drank whiskey, smoked cigars, and stayed on set for hours and hours.
Also, he said, “He was always a gentleman and worked hard.” We’ll miss him. I pray for his family and friends, especially his daughter.
Recently, McFarr has been in some of Hollywood’s biggest hits for more than ten years.
In 2012, the father of one got his first big acting jobs on shows like Homeland, Teen Wolf, and Rock of Ages.
After that, McFarr was in Furious 7 (2015), Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 (2014), The Accountant (2016), and Captain America: Civil War (2016).
Over time, he became close with Pratt, with whom he had worked before on Jurassic World (2015).
On the set of Passengers (2016), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), the stuntman worked with him again.
McFarr has also been in a number of TV shows, including MacGyver, Burn Notice, and One Tree Hill.
In the past few years, he put all of his energy into two restaurants in Florida, one of which was based on a movie about poke bowls.
