Caitlin Clark has been getting a wide range of unsolicited advice from some of the biggest stars in not just the WNBA but the NBA as well. The latest to do it is Dwyane Wade, who is one of the Miami Heat’s biggest legends. Wade does have a bias in this conversation though, he is part owner of the Chicago Sky. If you recall corectly, this is the same team where Angel Reese plays. In a recent game between the Chicago Sky and the Indiana Fever, Reese got a flagrant 1 got an elbow on Reese’s head and Wade wasn’t happy about it. In his podcast, because everybody has a podcast now. Wade wanted to talk about the rookie controversy with Caitlin Clark.

Wade took the same approach as other NBA stars did, he wants Caitlin Clark to toughen up as a rookie so she can excell later. But it’s hard to think he is not biased due to his allegiances. This is what Dwyane Wade said on his podcast: “This Caitlin Clark conversation with everyone hazy and I’m looking at it like I know what happened my rookie year when I came. This is all a part of ‘hey you got to show us that you built for this league. That play with Angel. It was a basketball play. Just a part of basketball. It is what it is, just trying to make a play on the ball and get the block. It happens.”

Should Caitlin Clark really toughen up as Wade says?

If we take the obvious out of the equation, we can definitely make an argument that Caitlin Clark should go through a rough stage as a rookie in the WNBA. Not just the first year but during the first few years, she does need to toughen up. If her projection is as impressive as it appears to be. There is a good possibility we are in front of a potential Hall-of-Famer but she will need to defeat the best in order to become the best. Now, there seems to be a definitive reticence against her that is a little hard to explain. But that’s a topic for another day.
