Mark Dodson has died at the age of 64. He was in STAR WARS and Gremlins.
It is said that the star died while at a fan convention in Evansville, Indiana, which is about 170 miles southwest of Indianapolis.
TMZ reports that Mark had a “massive heart attack” while he was sleeping at his hotel in Indiana.
Ciara, the actor’s daughter, told the news outlet that her father had died and that he was in the area for Evansville Horror Con 2024.
According to Ciara, her dad “always made me proud.”
It was planned that Mark would be at the event on both Saturday and Sunday.
The talent list also had Bam Margera from Jackass, Jason Hawes from Ghost Hunter, and Sean Whalen from Twister.
Mark was going to do paid photo ops and autograph sessions with fans, and on Sunday he was also going to be on a panel.
Mark advertised his appearance on Instagram a few days ago with the words “Come see me this weekend in #Evansville #horrorcon #starwars #gremlins.”
Mark did voice work for over 40 years, and the Gremlins movie series was where he was best known for his work.
As Salacious Crumb in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, he did voice work for other Star Wars characters in movies and video games.
Last year’s Ghostrunner II game was the last time Mark could be heard as the character Adam Hamada.
The actor’s manager told the news source that he gave “every character and script he touched” “his unique voice and sound.”
They wrote on their Facebook page, “We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Mark Dodson last night,” as a tribute to the actor who had died.
“Mark was not only a talented voice actor but also a cherished member of the horror community,” said the group. “At this very sad time, our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and fans.
“We hope that you can take a moment out of your day to reflect on the joy and laughter that Mark brought into the world His legacy will live on through his work.”
